Are you a parent that struggles with your own emotional issues or behavioral problems? If so, that is not anything to be ashamed of. What is important is that you seek help for yourself and demonstrate for your adolescent the ability to make changes.
A parent who can act as a role model for self-improvement may do far more for their teen than a parent who appears to be perfect. The key is to work at changing yourself so that your adolescent can see the possibilities for change in everyone.
